The offices of Studio Zéphyrin Bonal are located in a former Basque farmhouse in Bassussarry and have undergone a complete interior renovation.

The immense space was raw and comprised three distinct areas.

On the ground floor, a barn with two bricked-up openings, one of which featured a Bidache stone arch. The floor was made of compacted earth, and the interior revealed an imposing roof structure.

On the first floor, a former hayloft with no windows was accessible only via a ladder.

Finally, on the second floor, an attic space with exposed beams offered a view of the Pyrenees mountain range.

The interior architecture preserves the existing volumes while optimizing them to renovate the entire space so that it serves as modern and comfortable office space.

The ground floor was fitted with a crawl space covered with a quartz concrete floor. Raising the floor level allowed for the creation of a terrace adjacent to the new entrance, which was created by installing a bay window. This optimization of natural light is accentuated by the opening of the Bidache stone arch with a fixed arched bay window. The entire room has been insulated. The original ceiling heights have been preserved, and the exposed beams have been treated and varnished. A monumental custom-made oak table, designed specifically for the space, is placed at the center of the room and serves as the workspace.

Access to the first floor was made possible by installing a staircase leading to a mezzanine. The space under the staircase was utilized to install a kitchen and a bathroom. The first floor, featuring pine hardwood flooring, also benefits from natural light thanks to the installation of a large sliding window. This room, intended as a meeting room, is furnished with a custom-made table and a storage bookcase with shelves serving as a materials library. Two hidden doors conceal ample storage space and a staircase leading to the top floor.

The attic space, also featuring pine flooring, has been redesigned and partitioned. More intimate, this space is dedicated to seclusion and concentration.

This comprehensive project reflects the vision of Studio Zéphyrin Bonal, serving as a true showcase; the interior architecture enhances the historic building and allows clients to easily envision their own projects.
